Some scenes have so much dead air in them, it's as if you could imagine Jean Shepherd's Christmas Story narration playing over the silence. As Samantha Jones, the aggressively libidinous public relations executive in the weekly comedy series Sex and the City, she has become a role model for liberated women and an object of desire for men. It goes on and on like this for the film's first thirty minutes or so, only with a lot more treacly sentimentality. The three of them laughed and laughed and I just sat in disbelief that this was not only happening, but that this likely happened on the regular in this household. I'm trying to embrace it as much as possible. One of the Sex and the City gals — the best one — is going to saunter into a busy public area of a city centre hotel off an East Coast train rather than a plane, to boot without any of the pomp and ceremony of harassed publicists, private suites, make-up artists and room temperature bottled water. It's awkward, but I'm cool with it. Porky's is the kind of movie that stays with a pre-teen forever.
Kudos to the filmmakers for showing lots of cock in this movie , a bold move for a time when male frontal nudity was sparse in mainstream cinema. I think sex is a wonderful thing. SATC was Cattrall's first TV show; she turned it down three times before accepting what would become one of the most successful US series of all time at the age of Bringing the best of arthouse and festival cinema into focus. The film has a sort of loose plot about a group of high school basketball players trying to get laid, but is really more of an excuse to connect a series of hilarious practical jokes.
